CANNABIS DIAMONDS – 99.96% THCA

It is safe to say that concentrates have been on the leading edge of the cannabis industry in recent years. This increasing popularity continues to grow as concentrates are proving not only to be more efficient due to their purity and potency levels, but also the superior flavour and rapidity with which it will provide relief.
As the industries technology and cannabis curiosity progresses, the limits of what is possible with concentrates continues to be pushed.

Enter cannabis diamonds. The purest concentrate available, and the craze that has shaken up the cannabis concentrate world. These crystalline versions of isolated THCA (sometimes CBDA) are said to be the “holy grail” of potency, typically containing 99.96% pure THCA.

WHAT IS THCA?

By now, we have all heard of THC and are familiar with the effects it has on our body and mind #highlife. But have you heard its precursor, THCA? This is a cannabinoid acid, found in raw and live cannabis plant, and is the substance from which THC is derived upon heating. This heating process, decarboxylation, “activates” the raw cannabinoid acids in order to produce psychoactive THC.  THCA does not produce any psychoactive, mind-altering effects. However, THCA has many therapeutic health benefits, including analgesic (pain-relieving), anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. Engineers have created an extraction process, where only the pure isolates of cannabis are left behind; compact diamonds or crystalline of THCA which can be converted into THC if exposed to heat through combustion or vaping. Here is how it’s done…

HOW ARE THEY MADE?

Cannabis crystals or diamonds are made by using a series of chemical reactions to refine them. The extraction process can be done two different ways:

1. By utilizing a closed-loop system with a particular solvent removal process.

Most solvent-based extractions tend to remove the majority of solvents within the system as quickly as possible. However, the closed-loop system leaves 10-15% of the solvent behind to create a solution that is supersaturated with the THCA. This process of supersaturating THCA within a solvent-rich solution, and then slowly eliminating the solvent allows the crystalline to form. This method can take two (2) days to several weeks.

2. Using the similar method used to make other solvent-based pure cannabinoid crystalline, with the major difference being the focus on solvent removal.

This process is similar to the one used to make rock candy, where a highly refined cannabis concentrate (one that has had all lipids and terpenes removed) is mixed with a solvent to create a solution that is supersaturated. Heat and pressure are then applied and the solvent is slowly evaporated creating the right environment for crystals to form. If THCA Crystalline is being produced, it will separate out of the solution at the bottom of the vessel. THCA will begin to bond to other THCA molecules, forming crystalline structures given the right temperature and concentration is present.

THE FINAL STEP.

Depending on the size of the diamonds and overall consistency of the solution, the crystals can be harvested and removed from the concentrate. This process of diamond mining should result in the production of two different products — pure crystalline diamonds and a “terp sauce.”

CONSUMING YOUR DIAMONDS.

As previously discussed THC-A doesn’t have psychoactive effects without heat or decarboxylation. Simply put, you will not get high from eating it raw.

Consuming raw THCA is great for individuals who are sensitive to THC, or just prefer not to get high. THCA has valuable therapeutic properties including its ability to fight inflammation, which is the root cause of many illnesses. (make a diamond smoothie.)

However, when THCA diamonds undergo exposure to heat through combustion or vaping it is converted into pure and very potent THC. Due to the high potency of Cannabis Diamonds, it isn’t suitable for lightweights. Some users add a bit of THC-A crystal to shatter, resin or HTFSE, for an extra kick of cerebral bliss and more flavour – think extra espresso to your chai latte.

The isolation of THCA crystals provides flexibility to use these compounds to their full potential. It’s consistency allows you to control the ratio of THC in combination with CBD and terpenes, taking the guesswork out of medicating. And we can’t forget, a little goes a loooong way! its like they say – good things come in small packages.
